Named after the crates that built the county.
Orange County shipped its oranges in wooden crates with printed labels. We liked the idea of a box you could trust with something valuable, so we borrowed the name.
How it started
Orange Crate started in 2019 with one used box truck, two friends who had both worked for the big national movers, and a list of everything they would never do to a customer again. Hourly clocks that start in the parking lot. Day-labor crews that meet each other on your driveway. A price that grows on move day.
The fix was simple to say and hard to do: pay movers properly so they stay, quote the whole job in writing before it starts, and keep the trucks close to home so we know every street from Seal Beach to San Clemente.
Today the yard in Costa Mesa runs a small fleet of tangerine trucks and a crew that has been with us for years. The list is still on the wall.
Every home is a small world, and it fits in our boxes. That is the whole idea, and it is why the front page opens one.
